Altar

This particular piece involved combining over 500 images. It was a challenge…but who doesn’t love a challenge! When shooting this close to an object the DOF (depth of field) can be extremely shallow, meaning there is very little in focus. To solve this problem you can use focus stacking. Focus stacking is a technique that combines multiple images taken at different focus distances to give an end image with a greater depth of field keeping your entire subject, from front to back, in focus.

The stone I used for this shoot was found on Portmarnock beach, which is located in Dublin, Ireland. It’s a very distinctive piece of stone which I loved working with and I’ll definitely use again.
