Treibhe

I really enjoyed creating this piece! I love creating art at anytime but this one was slightly different as my 6 year old son found the wood I used for creating this piece. My son is also a big fan of the outdoors and exploring. He has a fascination with dinosaurs and fossils so from the moment I explained to him why I was looking so intently at these rocks & pieces of wood he was determined to find my next subject himself. He found the wood I used for this piece on the shores of the beautiful Blessington Lakes in County Wicklow, Ireland.

There was so many different looks I could have created with this detail rich little piece of wood but once I saw the potential of creating a look, that to me, resembles a tribal mask I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I’ve named this piece ‘Treibhe’ which is the Irish word for ‘Tribal’.
